St Sampson's Living Churchyard

St Sampson's Church has a living churchyard. There are many creatures who live here; including bats, birds and insects. The grass grows long in places to provide homes for them and wild flowers for food. This is a place to be enjoyed and explored.

From time to time we have talks on topics such as bats and flowers. We are gradually compiling records of flora and fauna and hope to expand this to creatures as well.

Churchyards are very special places for bio diversity and habitats as they have not been cultivated for hundreds of years. You are welcome to explore and record what you find. There is a box in the church porch with information.

We have produced a children's explorer pack for summer 2023. (Funding from National Grid Community Green Spaces Fund)

Pick up an explorer pack from the porch, which contains activities and information to help you explore and enjoy St Sampson’s churchyard. These are available at any time for you to use and take away.

A Warm Hello

Where and When

We are one church in five locations which offer a wide variety of styles of service from vibrant family friendly services to something more contemplative. We have services starting at 8am, 9.15am, 10am, 11am and 11.15am across the Cluster of five churches. You can find details of the services and what to expect here. The calendar not only gives you the place and time but also a description of what you can expect from the service.

What you can be sure of is a warm welcome at whichever church you decide to visit. Refreshments will be on offer either before or after the service.
